Where to Buy a Refurbished Computer?

Posted By: | Posted On: | Article ID:

The personal computer’s role in our lives has rapidly changed from becoming a luxury to being a necessity. Although getting a computer can be very expensive nowadays, there are several ways to own one without spending so much. One way to avoid emptying your pocket with a single computer purchase is to get a refurbished computer.

Buying a refurbished computer makes you save a minimum of 10 off the retail price. You can even get a rebate and freebies for selected models of refurbished products. Yet there is always that misconception of buying a refurbished computer that makes people wary of getting one. But all the worries can be eliminated once you know where to buy a refurbished computer.

The best source to buy a refurbished computer is from its manufacturer. The computers that are sold by the manufacturer as refurbished are those which were used as store models or those that were sold yet returned for the reason of a shift in needs. A refurbished computer from the manufacturer has passed more quality control than a new model since it receives another stamp of approval before it is sold. But even with this, there is still no definite assurance that the computer unit you intend to buy will not be lemon. To have a secondary confirmation, you can ask the retailer why that particular unit has been returned and if it was exposed to some repairs.

Likewise, you should also ask about the warranty and return policies of the refurbished computer. Manufacturers that sell these items will always assure the buyers in writing that their computers are like new and in good working condition.

Another place where you can buy a refurbished unit is through a third party. Third party sites like eBay and Craigslist are popular places where you can find refurbished computer units. However, you should proceed with caution when dealing with these sites to avoid fake advertisements. Luckily, these sites offer a ratings and reviews board to help you verify if the seller is reputable or not. If there are no ratings or reviews available for a particular seller, you can check the Better Business Bureau website for vendor complaints.

When buying a computer through third party sites, always avoid those that will not offer a money-back guarantee. Even if the Refurbished Computer is your ideal computer, don’t just grab the opportunity without considering other factors which affects the sale.

You should also look for the original software and license keys in the computer unit you are planning to buy. These things need to accompany the unit during the sale so that if something goes wrong, you will have no problem in troubleshooting your unit.

Buying a computer need not be expensive because now, there are a lot of refurbished units that are good as new and can be bought at a relatively cheaper price. With a personal computer being a necessity today, everyone is given the chance to own one.
