But then there are best and better than the best places. India offers some of the best romantic destinations around the planet. Whether you want to shout your love from the top of a hill or while hiking and trekking through deep valleys, there are hill stations galore across India to proclaim your connection. What's more there are myriad of good Hotels in India to suit all pockets and preferences. Your trip is just as important as the spot, so here's a selection of top romantic destinations in India where you can create memories to last a lifetime.

Ranikhet
Ranikhet means 'Queen’s Meadow' and is located in Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the best hill stations where romance ensues. According to local legends, this amazingly beautiful town was named after Rani Padmini who came here in the course of a journey. She was so enchanted by the splendor of the valley that she decided to settle down. The town is 365 km from India's capital New Delhi and just 90 km away from the Jim Corbett National Park. Ranikhet is great to visit year-round, although if you want to see the snow-covered hills with the riot of autumnal colors, be sure to visit in the fall.

Leh - Ladakh
Ladakh is located on the the tri-junction of the legendary 'Silk Route' which starts from Sinkiang and extends to West Asia and to the plains of India. Leh is an enchanting land of rugged hills, mirrored lakes, amazing landscapes and hallowed monasteries. The landscape resembles much with neighboring country Tibet, not surprisingly, this region is called 'Little Tibet'. Leh is located at an altitude of 11552 ft and can be approached from Srinagar, Delhi and Chandigarh by air and bus. Gasp at picturesque landscapes, trek mountains, hike around valleys and indulge in every kind of adventure sports during your romantic getaway in Leh.

Ooty
Ooty is Queen of hill stations in India and always synonymous with romance. This small wonderland is located in the Niligiri district of Tamil Nadu. Ooty is a city of history and mystery. It was initially used by the British as a place for tea plantations and later tuned to summer capital of the Madras Presidency. Local legends has it that once you've breathed the air, it's impossible to leave the city.

Munnar
Munnar in Kerala is hill station with a difference. For romantic birds there's lot to see and do here. Visit Tea Museum that's a huge draw with the tourists. Pour over the details of tea processing dating back to yester years. Have a rendezvous with the wild at Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and Eravikulam National Park and catch the glimpse of a large number of species. Also try your trekking skills at Eravikulam with Anaimudi in the backdrop.
