It is said that a penny saved is a penny earned. If an organization produces own commercial electricity or business electricity from Renewable Energy Sources then
(i) you do not have to pay for the energy not bought from any supplier
(ii) there could be reduction in the amount of Climate Change Levy (CCL ) that every organization has to pay.
Producing your own Commercial Electricity from Renewable Sources not only saves money but also helps conservation of nature. Now the question is about producing the commercial electricity from Renewable Sources.
With reference to UK the list of Renewable Energy Sources constitutes of Sunlight, Wind, Tides and Geothermal Heat
Following are the tips to produce your own commercial electricity from the above mentioned energy sources:
1 Sunlight: The energy of the sunlight is called solar energy.
Sunlight - Heat: The Solar panels absorb the solar energy and convert it into heat energy that can be used to heat water. The Solar water heating system can be connected to the water supply system of the house. More than half of a household's annual requirement of hot water can be fulfilled by this method. The two types of solar water heating system are flat plate solar water heating system and Solar water heating system with evacuated tubes.
2 Sunlight - Electricity: This solar energy can be converted by photovoltaic panels into electricity. This is one of the most clean, quiet and effective ways of generating electricity. The electricity produced this way is of DC type. This electricity can be used instantaneously, can be stored in electric battery cells and the surplus can even be transferred to national grid.
3 Geothermal Heat: Geothermal Energy is the heat of the earth. This energy can be trapped and used to produce electricity which can be later used for various applications. The potential of the
4 Geothermal Energy is not fully utilized. The hot spring from the Earth's crust is also a good source of energy.
5 Ground source heat pumps: Heat Energy of the sun is absorbed when it shines on the ground. The energy is extracted with the help of this Ground source heat pumps and used for space heating. Actually the source of the heat in this case is the sun and not the earth. In UK the temperature of the ground source is usually 12 degrees centigrade. The water can be heated using this heat of the ground. When the solar electric panels are used to supply initial power to the ground source heat pumps it becomes 100% renewable.
6 Wind: The wind turbine technology generates electricity from the power of wind. Wind mills that have been working for years are an example of generation of mechanical energy from the power of wind.
7 Moving Water: The energy of the moving water is used to move the water wheels which in turn can provide power to generate electricity.
8 Tides: Even the energy of the tides can be used to produce electricity.
The above methods can decrease the consumption of business gas and electricity and commercial gas and electricity.
