Custom folders can be more than just boring file folders. There are a lot of things that you can add on to your custom folders to make them more interesting and useful. I personally have found a lot of “add ons” if you will that can really help me create cool custom folders for my business and marketing campaigns. Here are a few interesting ideas for custom folders that you might want to try out too.

• Card slots – Card slots or “slits” are a great way to place a business card, postcard or even a greeting card within your custom folders. You just have to slide two or all four corners of the card into specially cut slits to secure them into position. Most printing companies should be able to do this with your custom folders. Just tell them of course the right dimensions of your card so that they can space the slits correctly. Of course you must also take note that the positioning of your slits and cards must be in the appropriate place so that people will still see your card while not hindering any functionality of the custom folders. Card slots are perfect for marketing folders, as well as public relation folders where business cards and marketing cards may be used.

• Special pockets – Also custom folders can have special pockets. These pockets can be used to slide in things into your folder such as paperwork, brochures, booklets and other such paraphernalia. These pockets can even be customized more with horizontal, diagonal for half and full pocket sizes, which are perfect for different kinds of printed materials. These special pockets are usually used if you want to create a whole kit with your custom folder for project presentations and report giveaways.

• Clips and fasteners – Next, you may also like the idea of built in clips and fasteners to your custom business cards. Some printing and publishing services can offer the attachment of such tools to custom folders for a price. These built in fastening devices are perfect if you find yourself pinning or fastening a lot of things in your custom folders usually. With built in fasteners it is just relatively easier to organize your things and store your paper work. This kind of “add on” is perfect for people who really deal with massive paper work each day.

• Decorative ribbons – For the more artistically inclined out there, decorative ribbons can be a great add on as well for your custom folders. They can provide a certain kind of flair for your custom folders that makes them quite eye catching and memorable. This is perfect if you have a theme in your presentation or for advertising folders that require that extra special artistic element.

• Viewing holes – Viewing holes are also a good idea, if ever you need them. If you want to display something like a logo that is located usually on your paper work, then viewing holes may be a nice touch to save you some printing money. Viewing holes for custom folders can be made at preset locations where you know your folder content will have a special feature in them always. While some may have achieved success in viewing holes, it all depends on your design and approach in utilizing them for a good effect. If you think there is an opportunity to make an extra kind of design feature, why not throw in the viewing hole idea for your next folder printing? It might be just the thing you want.

Those are just the most common “add-ons” that you can use for your custom folders. There are quite a lot more out there that you can use to improve the look and functionality of your custom folders. Just try to experiment and see what kind of add on you might want to use for your own folder printing.
