When it comes to network reliability and MPLS Networks, WAN optimization components seek to speed up a wide range of applications aimed at enterprise users. Wide Area Networks (WAN) eliminate redundant transmissions, compress and prioritize data, and streamline chatty protocols.

Ok, so while WAN optimization sounds interesting and all, I think we need to go into more detail when it comes to this definition so we can truly understand what this means and how it pertains to you. Wide area networks are normally exceptionally slow links and they are networks that interconnect branch offices, vendors, mobile marketers and telecommuters. Today’s society is more conscious than ever with regards to more efficient network reliability that bandwidth costs dropping on a daily basis and bandwidth management has become an issue that requires speed and additional network resource connections. This is where bandwidth management comes into the scene. Many organizations use WAN optimization, specifically bandwidth optimization to cut costs and reduce network clogging. WAN optimization products such as bandwidth optimization diminish network traffic by up to twenty percent. Further, a streamlined WAN optimization program can decrease network consumption by up to 96%.

As network applications develop into a more and more crucial component to the survival and expansion of the business' bottom line, a company’s IT department faces tough decisions about how to deliver more applications with enhanced performance to all users across the wide area network. This is why WAN Optimization and bandwidth management are so significant to the future of wide area networks.

Well, First things first and I know...definitions are boring, but knowing various elements of computer networks such as MPLS networks, specifically bandwidth management will give the end user the tools it needs fully understand what a WAN really is.

MPLS networks rely heavily on computer networking and telecommunications, mainly Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) which is a data entry mechanism that belongs to the network of packed switched networks. MPLS or Multi Protocol Label Switching is a protocol used within IP traffic management. Basically, it provides for a single router to pass onto another router without having to check the packet and header network, saving time necessary for the device to search for the next node in the system. Alternatively, the network reliability demanded by virtual servers is placed in centralized locations for better usability. At the same time, a WAN network can present obstacles when it comes to data protection; this is why bandwidth optimization is so important to companies trying to enhance their corporate productivity. For all of these reasons, WAN Components such as WAN optimization have become an important key initiative for tactical virtualization ventures.
