Six Ways To Set The Mood For Romance

Do you find yourself getting too bogged down in the day to day to feel like being romantic when the weekends roll around? Are you just too worn out to be creative? Has your relationship fallen into what appears to be an endless cycle of the same habitual practices designed to turn you old before your time? Every couple goes through a rough patch when the couple T-Shirt stages are over and the humdrum routine reigns supreme. It's important that you stay vigilant. Use your creativity, and create the mood for romance. As Valentine's Day approaches, here are six great ways to do just that:

Cook for your sweetheart: So many people are wrapped into the allure of dinner and a movie. But did you know that it can be just as romantic to partake of such activities without ever leaving the house? Cooking for your sweetheart and popping a DVD into your player can be just as alluring, if not more so. After all, there are no long waits in a crowded restaurant and no cell phones going off while you are trying to watch your movie. The added gesture of preparing a special meal also indicates more thought and care than simply springing for an expensive restaurant tab.

Dine in style at a fancy restaurant: Unfortunately, our jobs and our daily routines take a lot out of you, and if you are chained to your home or apartment all week long, then the first option may not be for you. Instead take an evening to get out of the house and whisk your sweetheart away to a classy restaurant. It requires no physical effort, and you can both focus on catching up, conversing, and planning your next steps for the evening.

Write a poem: Nothing is more personal or heartfelt than a poem for your loved one. Make it special. Reference memories and features about them you love, both physical and emotional. There is no better way to set a romantic mood for your evening together.

Make a mixed tape or CD: Maybe you're not the poetic type. Compile a mixed tape or CD filled with songs that are special to your relationship. It's the thought that counts, so make it count!

Find something you can share: Is there something you both love to do? Maybe it's competition or a special club, comedy shows and concerts, etc. Whatever interests you have, find something you can participate in as a team. It will remind you what you saw that was so special in each other from the beginning.

Get out in nature: Take a hike - literally! If you are more adventurous, you could go rock climbing. You could take a moonlit boat ride or go for a nice swim in a secluded spot. What matters is that you put Mother Nature to use and set a mood that will permeate your time together.

Having a good relationship is about more than couple T-Shirts and His-and-Her license plates. It's about finding the time for romance. And that becomes much easier to do when you set the mood ahead of time.
