Couples who want to start their life together have to face the expenses of the wedding and setting up a new household and in the meantime, spend for the honeymoon too, which is inevitable. But it is not necessary to spend a fortune on honeymoon to make it enjoyable and romantic. There are many ways through which a honeymoon can be experienced with affordable expenses.

The entire cost of honeymoon can be gifted by someone by listing it on a honeymoon registry. A honeymoon registry is like a wedding registry and instead of buying wedding gifts; the guests offer to bear the honeymoon expenses. This can be borne entirely by a single person or can be shared by more people to meet the expenses of a honeymoon. There are a number of honeymoon registries online that would prove to be useful.

There are a few companies and travel agencies that announce contests and offer free honeymoon vacations which is a way of promoting their services. Such contests can be tried and if the odds are in their favor, the couple may have the luck of winning a honeymoon ticket free.

It is a good idea to go on honeymoon during off season because the accommodation expenses and airfare prices are cut down by more than thirty percent during off season as against the peak travel season. In addition, there are some discount airlines that are not listed in the big travel websites but they have a lower fare to the destination.

Another option is to compare the various rates offered by other airports within that area. A smaller airport may have a cheaper fare than a major airport and that can be utilized to cut short expenses on the honeymoon. The savings on the smaller airport that is a little farther away are higher than the conveyance to reach that airport. Also, the honeymoon dates should be made flexible so as to reschedule them while the flight tickets are offered at cheaper rates within a range of dates. Mondays and Tuesdays carry lower rates than weekends. All these ideas would save hundreds of dollars and yet make the honeymoon enjoyable.

There are budget travel newsletters that offer promotional deals offering high discounts on airfare and lodging. Most of the hotels have hotel chains offering spa amenities, salons, facials and massage services and are located outside the main city for affordable rates. For those who enjoy outdoors, camping is also an alternative for a honeymoon which would prove to be cheap. Some people may offer to swap their homes for a week or so, and this can be utilized which would save the expenses of accommodation during a honeymoon.

Thus there are many ways of reducing expenses on a honeymoon and yet make it enjoyable and affordable. Yes, cheap honeymoons are possible!
