A Strong First Marketing Push

Posted By: | Posted On: | Article ID:

The first marketing push that a business does can be one of the more important one you’ll do.

The first reason is because people like to try out new things. Just ask yourself what you think each time you see a new business opening up. Maybe they have some great deal that no one else can offer? Maybe they have unique products you haven’t seen anywhere else? If nothing else, they represent a variation in your routine, and something you’ve never tried before.

This is something any new business is going to have going for it, and this is also the very reason why many of them don’t bother with very much marketing initially. They expect that they’ll have enough of a innate marketing push from just opening up their business that they won’t need to put much money into marketing.

The problem is that this initial interest is only going to carry you so far. If you want to be able to sustain that initial business than you need to be prepared with some strong marketing to keep people coming in.

Okay, so what you need to do is initially get something like greeting card printing done. This is for all of the people who might not see your store or realize that it’s there. The greeting card printing is going to generate that first interest in just trying something new, and I’d emphasize that in the greeting cards. Mention that you can provide people with something they can’t get anywhere else.

But the real strength of the first marketing push comes from the follow up. After you get them in your store you need to follow up with some additional offer or something else to entice them into coming back. Tell them you can sign them up for some loyalty program that will give them special deals if they keep coming back in. Set up a strong marketing presence in your building itself to encourage them to buy more, and be sure that your service is so good you’ll leave them walking away impressed.

Getting them into your store is going to be the easy part because they’ll naturally have interest, but you have to build upon that first business or else you’ll find the first round of interest fading away into nothing. This is the fate of many new businesses because they think they can ride that first wave far longer than they actually can.

Good marketing is going to make that wave last a lot longer, until you’re generating a lot of return businesses, and getting people to accept you into their everyday routine. Once you’re part of the community and part of a person’s everyday life, you know you’re doing to get a lot more business over the years. Strong marketing will help make that happen.
